AVAILABLE VOLUNTEER JOBS-
This job is so important as you are the first person the shopper has contact with AND you’ll be helping with crowd control (think Bouncer!). We will require all shoppers to show proof of Hall County Residency. Shopping is by appointment. As a shopper arrives, you’ll check their name off the list and direct them to the waiting area for the next available personal shopper. Volunteers will check in at the door and will be directed by you to their volunteer area.
You’ll have the opportunity to be in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the store. The main objectives will be to keep the toys/store tidy, to restock items as needed and to assist personal shoppers when needed. This job requires flexibility to do a variety of tasks!
As a personal shopper you have the distinct opportunity to build relationships with the shopper as you help them choose just the right gifts and stockings for their children. Personal shoppers will complete a form for each family which is turned into the Cashier when the shopper is ready to pay. Training for Personal Shoppers will be provided.
This is one job where you won’t move around! Taking cash, making change and handling the purchase of gift cards will be the main responsibilities. Also keeping the cashier area neat and tidy. Current and former guests referred by Family Promise Staff will be hired as cashiers. Volunteers interested in serving as a cashier will need to be approved by Family Promise staff.
GIFT WRAPPING STATION:
Here’s where you can really get in the Christmas Spirit! We’ll have gift bags, wrapping paper, tissue paper and ribbon available to wrap purchased gifts for the shoppers. Helping shoppers get the wrapped gifts to the car will also be a big help!
You’ll help Santa out by assisting families as they stuff a new stocking for each of their children. Filled stockings are just $1.00! Restocking items and keeping the area organized is a must!
Loving on precious children is what this is all about! There will be a simple activity for the children to do while the parent(s) shop, Christmas books to read and snacks available. Keeping the area neat and tidy and craft supplies stocked will also be important!
On designated days, you’ll become one of Santa’s Elves as you go to the Toy Collection sites in Hall County to pick up toys and deliver them to Family Promise. Once delivered, another group of helpers will sort and count all the toys and pack them up to be taken to the store.
Having a few biingual volunteers available to translate will be so helpful! When you’re not assisting a shopper, you’ll help the Personal Shoppers, Store Clerks, Gift Wrap area or anywhere you’re needed!
APPOINTMENT MAKERS: Appointments to shop will be taken by phone at the Day Center. A form will be provided for taking appointment information. Tasks will include answering the phone, making appointments on a master spreadsheet and spread Christmas cheer! Appointment Vounteers will be needed the weeks of: Nov. 11-15, Nov. 18-22 and Dec. 2-6.
SET-UP/DECORATE: Being a part of making the vision of the store become a reality is what the set-up and decorating team gets to do! And it goes together faster than you think! Putting up tables, setting up the different areas, filling tables with toys, decorating and bringing the store to life is so much fun!
BREAKDOWN/CLEAN-UP: Leaving the areas better than we found them is the goal! We’ll pack up remaining toys and supplies in totes provided which will be transported back to Family Promise. Tables will be cleaned and put away and we’ll make sure all trash is taken out and all rooms are clean and vacuumed.
